Within Corporate and M&A, Wolf Theiss is a second tier firm,
Ljubljana-based Markus Bruckmueller heads Wolf Theiss’ ‘excellent legal team’. The group is acting for BAWAG Banka, Banka Sparkasse, Banka Volksbank, and Steiermärkische Bank und Sparkassen in the Istrabenz insolvency, wherein the outstanding obligations to approximately 20 creditor banks total over €430m. This precedent-setting matter resulted in additional security, information rights, and covenants for the banks, as well as protections for the non-bank minority creditors, with the first tranche repayment of €210m having been made in November 2010. The firm is also advising Pivovarna Union and UniCredit on the €35m sale of Pivovarna’s 93.7% stake in Fructal.
