Private equity and real estate work are mainstays for Salans’ banking and finance practice. ‘A very thorough approach’ and ‘responsive service’ wins plaudits from clients. The practice advised Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) in connection with a €27.5m loan for financing and developing a residential project in Bucharest as part of a public-private partnership between the borrower and the Romanian Ministry of Defense. The transaction is notable as one of the first new real estate development loans granted in Romania since 2008, and one of the few successful PPPs in the country. On the borrower side, it advised Renault in connection with the €44m equity investment of an institutional investor for the development of one of the largest R&D centres in Europe. The practice is headed up by Magdalena Raducanu and Edward Dobre.

The firm is representing Rompetrol Group in connection with attempted negotiations and subsequent international arbitration proceedings before ICSID in Washington DC, against Romania based on violation of the Bilateral Investment Treaty between the Netherlands and Romania. The practice also represented Renault on its €450m research and development centre in Titu, 60km to the south west of Bucharest. On the finance side, Salans advised the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) in connection with a €27.5m loan for financing and developing a residential project in Bucharest as part of a PPP between the borrower and the Romanian Ministry of Defence.   • Changes in the Waste Management System

    The amendments adopted by the Parliament on July 1, 2011 to the Municipal Cleanliness and Tidiness Act bring revolutionary changes to the Polish waste management system. The Act is currently awaiting signing by the President. Once approved, the changes will become effective 12 months from the date the Act is published.
