Solicitor Eleri has developed a niche specialism in Latin American asylum and human trafficking claims and the majority of her clients include Colombian, Nicaraguan, El Salvadorian, Cuban, Albanian and Kosovar nationals.

Eleri handles matters involving vulnerable clients, often those who are victims of trafficking or slavery. She succeeded before the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber (IAC) in a Colombian asylum claim concerning a former DEA informant fearing reprisals from FARC and Mexican-Colombian cartels. This case was significant as the current country guidance case law does not recognise informants as forming a 'particular social group' for the purposes of the Refugee Convention.

She has also been involved in acting for a national of Cameroon who was detained under the DFT regulations, the client was considered a victim of trafficking and after she secured the client’s release from detention he was afforded refugee status.

Eleri’s most recent work involves successfully appealing five linked Kosovar asylum and trafficking claims before the First-tier Tribunal, with the hope that the case will have a lasting impact on the way that gender-based claims from Kosova are determined in future.

She has experience in representing clients in the First-tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber.

Eleri joined Duncan Lewis as a caseworker in 2014 and, after qualifying as a solicitor, has been a solicitor at the firm since 2017.

Eleri is fluent in Welsh and Spanish.

leri is a member of the International Jurists Commission, Colombia Carava, which was founded in 2008 after the National Colombian Association of Human Rights Lawyers (ACADEHUM) asked the international legal community to develop and implement an international programme of support for human rights lawyers working in Colombia. The Colombia Caravana UK Lawyers’ Group is now at the centre of an international network of jurists offering support to lawyers and other legal professionals in Colombia.

Eleri obtained her LPC from Swansea University, prior to this she received a first class joint honours: LLB Spanish and Law.
