I have been specialising as a Solicitor in the area of family law for over thirty years. I am very glad to have this opportunity to make a few brief comments and observations about the breakdown of marriages and other relationships.

Contact After Retirement (C.A.R.) Seminar
Hayes solicitors were delighted to welcome Contact After Retirement (C.A.R.) to a seminar at their offices on 17 February 2011. The focus of the Seminar was on the importance of putting ones affairs in order and the reason why one should consider making a Will, Enduring Power of Attorney and Living Will. The Seminar also focused on how Separation and Divorce can have an effect on the distribution of assets after your death.
Working Group on Medical Negligence and Periodic Payments publishes the first part of its Report
The Working Group on Medical Negligence and Periodic Payments, which includes Ciaran O’Rorke, head of the Hayes solicitors’ Healthcare team, published the first part of its report earlier this week.
Landmark Jury Award Against Kenmare Resources plc
Hayes solicitors represented Donal Kinsella in his recent landmark jury award against Kenmare Resources plc and its chairman. The award was made after a 6 day High Court trial and standing at €10,000,000 it exceeds the previous record jury award in this jurisdiction by more than 5 times.

Restriction of Directors in Irish law – a recent development
A recent Supreme Court decision has offered some insight into the law on the restriction of company directors by the Courts. The decision is particularly helpful as it addresses the differing roles of executive and non-executive directors, the type of conduct which will be classed as “irresponsible” in the conduct of the affairs of a company in financial difficulty and the need for the law to apply to the particular circumstances at issue.
Date for your Diary on Transfer Regulations Seminar
On 20 October next in Dublin, Hayes solicitors will co-host with UK law firm Short Richardson Forth and Legal Island a practically focussed seminar on the theme of Transfer Regulations and related legal developments. The recession has triggered a substantial escalation in the number of disputes arising connected to the Transfer Regulations. This seminar will focus on the legal issues giving rise to those disputes and possible commercial and legal solutions that may be applied in resolving such disputes
