In early November 2011, the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA)'s 55th Annual Congress was held in Miami, USA.

The Polish Chamber of Insurance, together with the Institute of Justice (Instytut Wymiaru Sprawiedliwości) organised and hosted the conference 'Compensation (related to moral damages) for a bodily injury or personal injury in the light of other legal systems’, held in September in Warsaw. 

In October 2011, the finale of the Amber Toga law firm ranking took place. Amber Toga is the ranking system for the best law firms in Poland, prepared by the magazine ‘Polish Market’ and the College of Law at the Kozminski University.

The prestigious British magazine Corporate INTL selected the top law firms for 2011.

In September 2011 (6-7.11.2011) MM Conferences organised a number of workshops on ‘Insurance disputes’. The topics dealt with at the workshops focused on the most problematic issues affecting the activities of insurance companies in the light of the most up-to-date jurisprudence in key cases related to insurance damages – automobile damage, property damage, and particularly problematic non-material damages.

In October 2011, Jan Roliński participated in the Polish government and business delegation to Houston, a central hub for the American exploration industry.

On 26 October 2011, WKB hosted a training for our clients and member companies of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Trade in Poland entitled ‘Environmental protection in business activity’.

On 15 June 2011, a one-day seminar entitled ‘Optimisation of employment costs in respect of employees and managers’ was held in Warsaw. The seminar was organised by the Conference and Workshop Department of Rzeczpospolita (the Polish daily newpaper). WKB acted as content partner.  

The workshop "Alcohol Marketing versus Law” was held on 24-25 May 2011 at Jan III Sobieski Hotel in Warsaw. WKB acted as content partner.

The 11th Congress of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) was held on 12-13 May 2011 at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw.

The latest edition of Legal 500 (2011 edition) ranks the WKB law firm in nine categories: Energy and Natural Resources; Competition and Antitrust; Banking and Finance; Corporate and M&A; Dispute Resolution; Labour Law; IP; TMT; and Tax Law.

In June 2011, Sergiusz Urban, LL.D., was appointed head of WKB’s environmental protection team. Expert in environmental protection law and policy in Poland and the European Union.

In the first part of April, WKB held a one-day training for our Clients entitled: “Amendment to the Land and Mortgage Register Act”.

On 13 April 2011 a one-day conference, “Mergers and Acquisitions 2011”, was held in the registered office of the Business Center Club in Warsaw.

The business breakfast “VAT – changes in 2011" was hosted by WKB at the Poznań offices on 17 March 2011.

In March 2011, a conference was held in Hong Kong devoted to the prospective development of competition law in China and Hong Kong: RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OF COMPETITION LAW IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND HONG KONG.

The prestigious British magazine Corporate INTL selected winners for the year 2010 from amongst the law firms.

A new book Global Business and Human Rights was published in February 2011 in cooperation with The European Lawyer.

WKB has been nominated for the Chambers Europe Award for Excellence 2011 in the category ‘National Law Firm of the Year’ in Poland.

The second business breakfast in a series of meetings hosted by WKB was held in February 2011. It was devoted to issues connected with ”VAT – amendments introduced to law provisions in 2011”.

For three years WKB has supported the Warsaw University team participating in the Willem C.Vis International Commercial Arbitration Meet, which is one of the largest and most prestigious moot competitions for law students.

From October 30 to November 3, 2010, the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA – International Association of Lawyers) welcomed lawyers from around the world to Istanbul, Turkey, to celebrate the 54th UIA annual congress. WKB was represented by Jerzy Baehr, Ph. D. and Aleksander Stawicki.

Another year in a row, WKB law firm participated in the Law Firm Career Fair organised by ELSA International Law Students' Association.

Aleksander Stawicki and Bartosz Turno have been invited to join the teaching staff of the post-graduate Competition Law Studies. The Studies have been founded by the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The lectures start in February 2011.

WKB participated in the 13th edition of the International Energy Conference EUROPOWER 2010. The law firm was represented by senior partners – legal counsel Jerzy Baehr and advocate Andrzej Wierciński.

Chambers and Partners, one of the well-known independent guides to the international legal market, has nominated WKB for the "Chambers Award for Excellence 2010".

Legal 500 EMEA is a renowned British ranking law firm, first time published in 1988. Every year ranking is prepared based on thousands of interviews carried out by law firm analysts in over 100 countries around the world.

WKB Law Firm has won a Silver Award in the Best Polish Law Firm 2010 category at the 2010 edition of International Legal Alliance Summit and Awards (ILASA). The prize was presented at the International Legal Alliance Summit and Awards Gala held in Paris on June 3rd 2010.

WKB Law Firm supports the Polish Book Institute in Cracow within the scope of all legal issues related to the copyrights regarding Janusz Korczak. In January 2010, the Polish Book Institute, has acquired from the State Treasury exclusive copyrights to all works by Janusz Korczak.

This is another distinction for WKB lawyers received from Who's Who Legal. 

The agreement for construction of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Terminal in Świnoujscie was signed on 15th July in Warsaw. WKB Wierciński, Kwieciński, Baehr was the main advisor in all stages of this voluminous PLN 3 billion investment.

WKB Wiercinski, Kwiecinski, Baehr was awarded by the prestigious British business magazine „World Finance” the title of: Best Intellectual Property Team and Best Energy Team in Poland in 2010. The award was granted within the scope of the ranking World Finance 2010 Legal Awards.

The agreement for construction of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Terminal in Swinoujscie was signed on 15th July in Warsaw. WKB Wiercinski, Kwiecinski, Baehr was the main advisor in all stages of this voluminous PLN 3 billion investment. The State Treasury Minister, Aleksander Grad, representatives of GAZ-SYSTEM SA and Polskie LNG, as well as WKB lawyers attended the signing ceremony. The following WKB lawyers were involved in the project as advisors: advocate and partner Jan Rolinski, advocate and partner Bartlomiej Jankowski, and legal counsel Anna Flaga-Martynek.

January 14, 2009, Warsaw - Law firm WKB Wiercinski, Kwiecinski, Baehr prepared a substantive study of the handbook „Zielone Zamowienia Publiczne” (Green Public Procurement) for the Ministry of Regional Development. The team of WKB experts in the field of public procurement law and environmental protection law, who participated in the project, consisted of: Jan Rolinski, advocate, partner, Ewa Rutkowska-Subocz, legal adviser, Agnieszka Skorupinska, associate, Agnieszka Chwialkowska, associate.
