Fox Williams LLP, where the majority of the commercial contracts work has a cross-border flavour, has specialised in agency, distributorship and supply agreements for more than 25 years. Its team, which is 'great to work with', provides advice on contentious and non-contentious matters to principals and agents, as well as suppliers and distributors. In 2017, Stephen Sidkin and legal director Emma Roake represented The Software Incubator at the Court of Appeal in the landmark case of The Software Incubator Limited v Computer Associates UK Limited; the matter concerns the question of whether or not a licence to use electronically supplied software amounts to 'the sale of goods' under the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993. Elsewhere, another highlight involved advising Spanish company King's Education SL on an agreement with Latvia-based Saliena Development SIA to establish a British-style school in Riga. Senior associate Laura Monro is also recommended.
