Position
John worked for HMRC for 11 years in several technical advisory and policy roles. He advises corporates, owner-managed businesses, charities, not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, independent schools and individuals on various tax issues that are unique to their particular situations. Work highlights include advising on a large-scale property development (construction of a shopping centre), advising a management team on the tax consequences for them of a share incentivisation plan implemented by a private equity house, demerger of a family business and the implementation of a tax efficient structure for a property refurbishment/development programme by a not-for-profit organisation. John also regularly advises on tax issues arising from property investment acquisitions and disposals, including SDLT and VAT matters. He has been recommended for both his ‘client focus’ and expertise in corporate tax, SDLT and VAT.
