Commercial property, construction (non-contentious).

Position

Matthew works on some of the firm’s most complex and high-value property transactions. He advises on a wide range of property matters, including advising institutional and private investors on the acquisition, asset management and disposal of individual and portfolios of properties. Advises developer clients on all aspects of developing land, including acquisition, financing, pre-letting and subsequent disposal of office, mixed-use and residential developments, and also general landlord and tenant work. Matthew has recently been instructed by an NHS body in relation to the development of a world class multimillion-pound medical research and learning facility; recently completed the disposal of a large inner city development site to Waitrose for the construction of a new superstore in Exeter; acted for a large national charity in the acquisition of a 385-acre former agricultural college at Seale Hayne in Devon. Most recently Matthew has been advising a large number of landowners and farmers on option agreements for wind turbines and solar photovoltaic plants across the South West. Matthew’s background while working in the City included advising three of the top five telecoms companies on the roll out of their 3G mobile networks, and is therefore very experienced in the legal issues arising from ground and roof-mounted infrastructure. Matthew also advises several banks on property finance matters.
