Position
Marlene is head of the IP unit, specialising in particular in branding issues and prosecuting her own trade mark applications, although she advises on all aspects of intellectual property and technology law. She has considerable experience in assisting businesses with their long-term branding strategy, registering their brands and enforcing these against third parties. In addition, she regularly advises in relation to commercial agreements relating to the exploitation of intellectual property rights. Marlene also specialises in data protection, freedom of information and the environmental information regulations, advising businesses, both private and public, on how to ensure compliance with such legislation. She also advises on a wide range of commercial matters focusing primarily on agreements that have a substantial intellectual property and/or information technology element to them. Examples include among others IT outsourcing agreements, website development agreements, hosting and support and maintenance agreements, and franchise and sponsorship agreements.
