Mats Johnsson is a part­ner in Hamilton’s Competition and Procurement prac­tice. Mats has exten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence in ad­vis­ing with­in EU and com­pe­ti­tion law. He advises clients with­in all aspects of com­pe­ti­tion law, in­clud­ing car­tel and an­ti-com­pet­i­tive cas­es, merg­er and com­pe­ti­tion con­trols and state aid. He rep­re­sents be­fore the EU com­mis­sion, na­tion­al com­pe­ti­tion authorities and courts and ar­bi­tra­tion pan­els.

Hamilton AdvokatbyrÄ’s practice expanded as a result of the firm merging with Ashurst’s Stockholm office; Pontus Bergsten and Jon Ericson were among the new arrivals. Recent highlights include Mats Johnsson, Charles Andersson and Joachim Funariu assisting MTG with its $55m acquisition of US games publisher and developer Kongregate from GameStop. Martin Prager was the lead adviser to the online retailer Furniturebox on the sale of the business to FSN Capital’s portfolio company Bygghemma. Ola Lidström and Christoffer Hamilton are also recommended.

EU and competition

Hamilton AdvokatbyrÄ’s Mats Johnsson recently assisted Modern Times Group with the multijurisdictional merger control aspects of the sale of its TV, digital and radio businesses in the Baltic region. On the behavioural side, Johnsson and Ola Hansson represented transport provider Bilfrakt Bothnia in an SCA investigation into allegedly restrictive practices in the waste transport sector. Fredrik Linder leads the team.

Public procurement

Hamilton AdvokatbyrÄ’s practice recently won work from Tele2, Sokigo and Hallins. Fredrik Linder and senior associate Mikael Dubois acted for AGA/Linde in review proceedings against Halland County Council over the procurement of a contract of medical and industrial gases. Mats Johnsson also handles public procurement matters.
