Position

Alex Haffner is a partner in the corporate department at Fladgate.

He specialises in competition, regulatory and commercial law matters. He also advises many start-up/growth companies on their legal requirements and in obtaining outside investment to grow their businesses.

Alex acts for clients across a wide range of industries, most notably those in the technology, media, telecoms, sports and retail sectors.  Alex has a very international practice, with a particular focus on China, the Middle East and North America.

He has significant experience dealing with the UK, EU and international competition authorities and courts. He has been involved in several ground breaking cases including the English Premier League’s settlement of its long-running investigation by the EU Commission, the first ever successful leniency application to the Office of Fair Trading (now the CMA) in the Hasbro case, and successful merger clearance applications for companies including Total, General Mills, Flextronics and Mitsui.

Alex’s commercial work has involved negotiating and drafting agreements for various sports rights holders and broadcasters, various mobile and technology companies, as well as corporates in various other sectors.

Alex is a board member of the Association for Interactive Media and Micropayments and sits on the editorial board of LawinSport.

He is recognised by the legal directories; the Legal 500 has commented that he is “always willing to go the extra mile for his clients”.
