Managing Partner Radek Halicek explains how the firm is adapting to clients’ changing needs

What do you see as the main points that differentiate KPMG Legal from your competitors?

Cooperation with our colleagues from other service lines allows us to deliver a truly multidisciplinary approach. This is often described as one-stop-shop. Not only are we able to cooperate closely with leading tax advisors; we also have access to various data-driven tools provided by our colleagues from the advisory branch.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

Technology is at the core of the most promising practices. GDPR projects have strengthened the links between our legal firm and our advisory branch and I believe there is a huge potential in cooperation.

What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients?

Thanks to the data-driven impact analysis we are able to foresee upcoming changes and prepare our clients well in advance for new regulatory requirements.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

Absolutely. We cooperate very closely with our colleagues from other service lines and technology is at the heart of our services.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

For several years, we have been a trusted advisor to one of the leading family businesses in the Czech Republic. We started with advisory services around successorship but gradually got involved in tax advisory. Then we advised with company restructuring, and recently we have completed the GDPR project. I believe it is a good demonstration of the versatility of our services.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms - where do you see the firm in three year's time?

In my opinion, clients do not look for stability, they look for solutions provided by people who understand their business. That said, we aim to double the size of our business. We plan to leverage the multidisciplinary approach, benefit from data-driven insights and deepen cooperation within the KPMG network. I am confident that clients will appreciate this.
