Position

MARTIN LEVINSOHN'S two main areas of practice are intellectual property rights and EU- and competition law. Within intellectual property rights, Martin has vast experience as counsel in disputes concerning patents and trademarks, particularly in the pharmaceutical business. He also assists Swedish and foreign clients in contract negotiations, license issues and consultancy regarding regulatory issues in the pharmaceutical field. Within EU- and competition law, Martin has mainly engaged in issues concerning merger control and public procurement, but he is also experienced in consultancy in issues regarding general competition law for dominant as well as non-dominant companies.

Setterwalls’ practice head Ulf Djurberg was the lead adviser to Rederi AB Soya and Wallenius Lines on the multijurisdictional merger filings relating to the cross-border merger with Wilh. Wilhelmsen. The team provides competition law compliance advice and assists clients with abuse of dominance investigations and issues of anticompetitive agreements. Malin Albert specialises in state aid. Martin Levinsohn and senior associate Mattias Wiklund are based in Malmö.

Noted for its broad IP practice, Setterwalls is active in patent litigation and has a strong trade marks offering. Sophia Spala jointly heads the practice with Martin Levinsohn and Fredrik Roos. Levinsohn and Per Lidman recently acted for Sandoz in its revocation claim over AstraZeneca’s patent for a sustained release formulation of the drug quetiapine. Cloetta, Orifarm and Swep International are longstanding clients.
