Position
Senior criminal partner, head of business crime, serious fraud, regulatory department. HCA (Criminal). Defence of clients in MTIC / Carousel frauds, banking frauds, duty / VAT evasions, very large drugs importations, murders etc. Defence of professional clients eg solicitors in mortgage fraud, legal aid fraud, associated disciplinary (SDT) cases; head teachers and teachers in historic sexual abuse cases; accountants in frauds; police officers in criminal and disciplinary matters. Current active cases of note: Operation Inertia – largest MTIC fraud ever – trial pending in London; Operation Chaplin – massive (24 defendant) conspiracy to import and supply cocaine and heroin from Latin America and Asia; Operation Valgus – multi million £ mortgage fraud involving over 200 property transactions, act for mortgage broker (one of 14 defendants); Operation Brimstone – another massive mortgage fraud, act for solicitor (also in linked SDT proceedings); Operation Ply – another massive mortgage fraud, act for one of four solicitors of nine defendants (also in linked SDT proceedings); Operation Ahoy – alleged breach of export regulations – very sensitive case.
