Areas of practice

In 2011 the firm was involved in the vast majority of real estate development projects of medium and large scale. Popovici Nitu & Asociatii has been acting for the largest developers on the Romanian market, including Baneasa Development, Global Finance or CD Capital. Hochtief, the leading German real estate and construction fund, continued to use the firm for large-scale office development projects.

The firm is acting as the head local external legal counsel for the largest real estate fund on the continent, Immofinanz AG. In addition, significant real estate development activities are entrusted to Popovici Nitu & Asociatii by the most active retailers, such as Auchan and Rewe Group.

During 2011 Popovici Nitu & Asociatii has significantly expanded the capital markets practice group, having extended its co-operation with Franklin Templeton and assisting within several listing and delisting procedures. Financial leasing and alternative finance is another Popovici Nitu & Asociatii speciality.

Popovici Nitu & Asociatii is one of the most experienced law firms in renewable energy, advising clients such as Electricite de France (EDF), RETD SA and Enel, or Filasa International. The firm was involved in all Romanian nuclear energy projects, the largest number of wind projects in Romania, and the first photovoltaic project developed in Romania.

Popovici Nitu & Asociatii maintains a leading market position in the IT and electronic communications sector. Clients include Asseco Group, GTS Telecom, Hewlett Packard, Orange, Scop Computers, Siveco and UPS.

Litigation and arbitration is one of the largest practice groups in Popovici Nitu & Asociatii. The team has extensive experience in various types of conciliation, mediation and arbitration proceedings, advising/representing clients in front of Romanian and International Courts of Arbitration under the rules of ICC Paris, ICSID, International Center for Dispute Resolution, The Court of International Commercial Arbitration from Romania, and more.
