Lawyer (H) Kaare Andreas Shetelig at present with the Office of the Attorney General has with effect from 29th November been nominated as junior partner in Wikborg Rein. He will be a part of the Trade, Industry and Public Sector Industry Group in Oslo, and enter into the team of legal procedure partners of this group.

Despite the fact that Norway similar to the rest of Europe experienced a relatively volatile real estate market in 2008 and 2009, the volume of transactions has increased substantially throughout 2010.This positive trend also applies to the building construction market, both commercial and residential.

Wikborg Rein is rated as the most attractive law firm to work for in Universum's annual student survey in Norway. From November 2009 to March 2010 940 students participated in the survey.

From 1 January 2010 the following have been appointed as Partners at Wikborg Rein

On 17 March 2009, a Norwegian High Court held that a non-compete clause in an agreement regarding quarrying rights was contrary to the prohibition against anti-competitive agreements. The High Court held that the non-compete clause had the object of restricting competition and consequently was void. This is the first court case in which Norway’s 2004 Competition Act has been applied in a dispute between two private parties.

22nd January 2009 - Every semester Wikbrg Rein reserves 2-3 trainee positions for law students with an interest in maritime law.

Wikborg Rein’s traditional shipping business has promoted an international outlook and the full-service firm now has offices in Oslo, Bergen, London, Singapore and Shanghai.

Lawyer Geir H. Sviggum, who used to be based in Wikborg Rein's Bergen office, has recently moved to Shanghai to strengthen the firm's Shanghai office. He joins the Norwegian lawyer Lars Berge Andersen and four Chinese lawyers at the office.

Wikborg Rein has been voted "Law firm of the Year 2008" by Norwegian law students.

In June the Norwegian Ministry of Defence announced a tender competition concerning a framework agreement for legal services. The framework agreement’s duration is four years. Wikborg Rein was chosen as one out of three suppliers, in competition with several other law firms.

Wikborg Rein is the winner of the International Law Office (ILO) Client Choice Award 2008 for Norway. Wikborg Rein also won the award in 2007.
