International Reach

William Fry, founded in 1847, is a full service commercial law and tax firm with over 310 legal and tax professionals and over 460 staff and offices in Dublin, Cork, London, New York, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, enhancing our international reach. We have many years’ experience in high-profile cross-border mandates, and regularly act on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and commercial disputes.

William Fry and its employees are members of many organisations both in Ireland and internationally. We have a large network of international firms and are the Irish member firm of the global tax advisory network, Taxand. With more than 400 tax partners and over 2000 advisors in nearly 50 countries, Taxand is the world’s largest organisation of tax advisors to multinational businesses.

We also have an alliance with Tughans, Northern Ireland’s largest commercial law firm. This allows us to provide our clients with a full legal service throughout the island of Ireland.

Inward Investment

We have a proven track record in Inward Investment. We have worked with numerous international clients from a wide variety of sectors, including ICT, pharma and financial services, on cross-border mandates and also on their set up in Ireland, and can offer unrivalled advice on not only the legal and tax aspects of global jurisdictions but also key insights into the Irish marketplace. Our experience enables us to identify the critical issues which may affect our clients’ businesses and allows us to anticipate difficulties encountered by businesses seeking to set up in Ireland.

We maintain strong links with regulators such as the Data Protection Commission, with corporate financiers, the IDA and other relevant Government agencies. This enables us to streamline the process of gathering information to provide clear, pragmatic advice to our clients.

Diversity at William Fry
We believe that talent comes in many forms. Fostering a diverse workforce enables us to attract and retain the best, brightest and broadest range of talent. Creating an inclusive environment where people are encouraged to reach their full potential enables us to harness the unique perspectives and experiences of our staff to provide innovative solutions to our clients.

As part of William Fry’s commitment to diversity & inclusion, we have appointed Owen O’Sullivan, Catherine O’Flynn and Rachel Fox as D&I Partners.

We have a staff support network that aims to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion across the firm.

We are members of The 30% Club, a collaborative business-led effort to make real change in Ireland, aiming towards 30% female representation in senior management by 2020. We are also proud members of PWN, a global network of people accelerating gender balanced leadership in business and
society.

We also offer a series of supports aimed at working parents – maternity and paternity coaching, flexible working, etc, to support all working parents – both women and men – which is crucial to achieving gender equity in the workplace.

We are founding members of the OutLaw Network, a group whose mission is to promote and drive the inclusion of LGBT+ people across the Irish legal community.

We are proud to support, and actively recruit from, the Trinity Access Programme and the DCU Access Programme. These programmes work to widen access and participation of under-represented groups at third-level education.

CSR/Pro Bono at William Fry
We aim to make the area in which we work a better place to live and do business. We have a strong history of giving back to the local community through fundraising, donating and volunteering. Our volunteers from across the firm provide support for, and collaboration with, our designated charity partners, pro bono work, skills-based volunteering, fundraising and donations to staff and client-nominated causes.

Through our Social Impact+ pro bono programme, our staff provide legal and non-legal pro bono support to local social enterprises. Through workshops and 1:1 mentorship we help these organisations grow and develop as they aim to impact critical issues like gender equality, neurodiversity, homelessness and sustainability.
