Founded in the 1940s, Uría Menéndez has 107 partners and over 400 associates in 16 offices across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Throughout more than 60 years of its history, Uría Menéndez has become increasingly international through expansion in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In China, Uría Menéndez has been building solid relations with the government (Uría Menéndez is the only private institution in the world to which the Chinese Ministry of Justice has entrusted the international training of Chinese lawyers), the business community (the Chinese International Chamber of Commerce (CCPIT) has also sought the firm’s assistance for its members to develop China’s foreign investment in Europe and Latin America), and academia (it is part of the consortium that operates the China-EU School of Law, China’s first public-private school of law).
In 2010, Uría Menéndez became the first and only Iberian law firm to have an office in Beijing. The office is run by international lawyers with extensive experience in European and Latin American investments, finance, and mergers and acquisitions.
The firm’s focus in Beijing is to assist investors in the region with their outbound investments into Spain, Portugal and particularly, Latin America, where it has five offices, an unparalleled transaction record and execution capabilities that has earned it a reputation for having one of the best networks in the region.
