Career

John has worked on a wide range of corporate transactions and general company advisory matters with non-regulated and regulated entities. He has also gained in-house experience through a secondment to HSBC Bank plc. Specific experience includes: advising on mergers and acquisitions; drafting and advising on articles of association and shareholders’ agreements; advising on reductions of capital, striking-off and dissolution; advising on corporate restructurings and exit strategies; negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and distribution agreements; and, advising on a full range of financing (including asset finance, asset based lending, real estate and property development finance, corporate restructuring, acquisition and leveraged capital finance, receivables finance, and syndicated lending).

Career highlights include: advising a major up and coming international furniture retailer with an investment of approximately £40m in equity funding from new and existing investors; advising the private equity group Cerberus in relation to a £400m loan provided to GVC in order to acquire bwin.party; advising Artex Risk Solutions Inc, a Bermuda-based company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Arthur J Gallagher & Co, in relation to the acquisition of Quest Holdings (Gibraltar) Limited (Quest), one of the largest insurance managers based on the Rock.
