Grette partner appointed new chair of the Board of Competition of Norwegian Industry

March 2012

Ida Gjessing has been appointed the new chair of NKU, the Board of Competition of Norwegian Industry.

NKU is an important body for the extrajudicial resolution of disputes about “good business practice”. The opinions of NKU give important guidance to the business community about what falls within “good business practice” and what does not. The opinions of NKU are not legally binding, but usually complied with by the parties involved in the process. If they do not, and the matter is taken to court, the NKU’s opinion will have considerable persuasive authority with the court. “I go to this task with humility, and look forward to getting on with it” says Ida Gjessing, who was appointed for a four year term by the Confederation of Norwegian Industry and other member organizations. This office is not a full-time position, and will not affect Ms. Gjessing’s position as a partner at Grette.
