A major highlight involved Sascha Hödl’s advice to Heta Asset Resolution on the sale of Hypo Group Alpe Adria’s Southeastern Europe (SEE) banking network to private equity firm Advent International and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). ‘Highly recommended’ practice head Alexander Popp, who frequently acts for clients in the energy, insurance and telecom industries, advised Allianz Capital Partners on the purchase of four wind farms from ImWind.

Projects and energy
Schoenherr has a strong focus on public law and public procurement work and has special expertise in environmental impact assessments (EIA) and permit advice. Practice head and ‘great communicator’ Christian Schmelz, who has ‘profound knowledge of the energy sector’, advised Tiwag-Tiroler Wasserkraft on the construction and operation of two hydro pump power storage plants and three riverine hydropower plants.
Schoenherr is highly experienced in advising on constitutional and administrative law matters, particularly in connection with environmental law. Christian Schmelz’s practice has an excellent niche in environmental impact assessments (EIA) and energy infrastructure permits. Schmelz advised Vienna International Airport on the construction of a third runway and assisted Red Bull with obtaining EIA approval for a test track as part of the Red Bull Ring.
