In May 2011, Eversheds LLP completed a merger with KSLG (in association with Dhabaan & Partners), bringing four new offices to complement the firm’s existing Middle East presence, which now spans five countries with offices in Abu Dhabi, Amman, Baghdad, Doha, Dubai and Riyadh. The Doha office is jointly headed by Chris Jobson (also the managing partner in the Middle East) and Amjad Hussain, with the former leading on contentious matters and the latter heading the non-contentious practice. Hussain led advice to Barwa Bank on its acquisition of the Islamic window of the International Bank of Qatar in the first transaction of its kind in the Middle East. The firm is advising the QFC on new money laundering legislation, and Jobson is working with Lord Woolf and Sir William Blair on issues relating to the establishment of the new commercial court and regulatory tribunal.
