Ramón Hermosilla & Gutiérrez de la Roza (RHGR) is a firm with over 50 years’ experience and has been involved in Spain’s most important legal matters.

The firm was founded in 1959 by Mr Ramón Hermosilla Martín. It has grown since then, responding to clients’ needs, extending its fields of activity and recruiting specialised lawyers in various areas. In 2012, RHGR promoted the creation of Ontier, an international legal firm with presence in Lisbon, London, Mexico, Caracas, Bogota, La Paz, Santa Cruz, Sao Paulo, Asuncion, Panama, Shanghai.

Due to its long experience and high levels of professionalism, RHGR is backed up by a large number of loyal clients, both in Spain and abroad, including some of Spain’s leading companies in sectors such as telecommunications, energy, real estate, banking, etc. The firm also provides advice to small companies and individuals in all fields, in a personal and individualised manner.

RHGR is currently leading an ambitious international expansion process and has recently opened new offices in Colombia (Bogotá), Mexico (Mexico DF), Bolivia (Santa Cruz and La Paz) and Venezuela (Caracas). Further, RHGR is collaborating with a respected Brazilian firm with offices in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Natal) to provide its clients with legal assistance and support in that country.

RHGR advises companies at all stages of the corporate life cycle, from their incorporation, drafting of by-laws and shareholders’ agreements, to all standard corporate transactions. The integral advice provided to clients includes negotiationg and drafting agreements related to each specific business activity. The firm is one of the most experienced in the resolution of significant complex disputes, both before courts and in arbitration proceedings.

The firm’s lawyers offer the experience and specific knowledge required in national and international arbitration proceedings. It represents clients both in ad hoc and international arbitration proceedings, as well as under the arbitration regulations issued by CCO, LCIA, AAA, the Spanish Arbitration Court, the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court and other Spanish and foreign arbitration institutions.

Areas of practice

RHGR has a history of advising in bankruptcy proceedings, both to defend the bankrupt company’s interests and those of its creditors. Its experience allows the firm to help clients find the best solution under Spanish law.

The firm’s experience covers debt restructuring and refinancing, and investments in bankruptcy assets and liabilities: its lawyers’ negotiation capacity guarantees the best results for clients.

In addition to these areas of work, RHGR has extensive experience in the following areas: real estate, giving advice on all types of real estate transactions and mutual funds, developers, construction companies, distribution chains and financial institutions; public law, providing preventative advice in administrative and contentious proceedings; banking and finance, providing advice on loan and credit transactions, both for financial institutions and borrowers, intervening in the drafting of ordinary and syndicated financing agreements, and; employment, advising clients on matters related to employment relationships, drafting employment contracts, and termination of employment.
