Antonis Glykis and Constantinos Kourides on the Solvency 2 directive
The Solvency II Directive 2009/138/EC codifies and harmonises the regulation of insurance companies in Europe, particularly as regards the amount of capital that insurance companies must hold to reduce the risk of insolvency. The directive is expected to come into effect on 1 January 2014, and will have far-reaching implications for all insurance companies.
