Geneva's International Law Seminar
Alexia Solomou, a lawyer in our dispute resolution and litigation team, has been selected to participate in the forty-eighth International Law Seminar organised by the United Nations Office in Geneva in connection with the annual session of the International Law Commission.
The International Law Seminar takes place annually. Its objective is to enable postgraduate students or young university teachers specialized in international law, as well as young lawyers working in the international law field, to widen their knowledge of both the work of the International Law Commission and of the codification and progressive development of international law. It also provides an opportunity for lawyers coming from different legal systems and cultures to exchange views regarding items on the agenda of the Commission.
A maximum of 24 participants from various Member States of the United Nations participate in the International Law Seminar each year. Participants attend the presentations given by members of the International Law Commission, officials of the United Nations or specialized agencies in Geneva and other speakers invited for the occasion, and are encouraged to take an active part in the discussions which follow.
Competition for places on the Seminar is intense, and the selection procedure is rigorous. Alexia is the first participant from Cyprus in the history of the Seminar.
Panayiotis Neocleous, head of the dispute resolution and litigation department, said, "We congratulate Alexia on her selection for this most prestigious event and are glad to support her attendance".
