Partner in the admiralty and shipping department and the litigation and arbitration department. His main areas of practice are admiralty and shipping, corporate and commercial law, international trade law, Mareva injunctions and associated litigation.

Career

He was admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2004. He joined Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC in 2003 and became a partner in January 2010. In 2009 he was appointed as a member of the Shipping Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association. As of 2010, he is also acting as a visiting lecturer at Frederick University Cyprus teaching the law on the carriage of goods by sea and shipping law.

Education

Costas Stamatiou graduated in law from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2001 and obtained a Master’s degree in Legal Aspects of Marine Affairs from there in 2002 and a Master’s degree in European Legal Studies from Bristol University in 2003.

  • Sale of Immovable Property (Specific Performance) Law amended

    The Sale of Immovable Property (Specific Performance) Law allows purchasers who deposit a stamped agreement for the sale and purchase of immovable property in Cyprus with the relevant District Land Registry within specified time limits to obtain specific performance of the contract if the seller subsequently fails to cooperate.
