Providing hands on solutions as an employment law business partner, is what Kris does. Starting from the clients problem, not the law.

Kris De Schutter is an equity partner within the Loyens & Loeff Employment & Benefits Practice Group in Belgium. He has 15 years of all-round experience in employment law.

As one of the creators of flexible reward plans he is a true specialist in alternative remuneration schemes. He has developed flexible reward plans for a lot of clients such as BNP Paribas Fortis. As such he has been advising clients on a daily basis to ensure a disrupted HR vision by reducing costs, amongst others by implementing alternative remuneration schemes in all kinds of sectors, including the financial, retail or pharma sector. He is the architect of a full new flexible reward scheme which is praised by all relevant HR stakeholders and was even discussed in parliament.

He has significant experience in restructurings and change plans for large companies, taking clients by the hand through major restructuring operations from A-Z. He is also often involved in, sometimes rather sensitive, negotiations with employee representatives. These matters are often high-profile and his experience enables him to advise on legal and strategic industrial relations issues.

Kris also has expert knowledge on the remuneration regulations in the financial sector including CRD IV and defended several clients towards ECB supervision. He also regularly assists clients with respect to the recruitment and the dismissal of top managers, both in a national and international context.

Kris is a member of several Loyens & Loeff firmwide teams, such as the Automotive Team, Brexit team and the German region Team.

Clients know Kris as an inspired, innovative attorney who will go the extra mile. His approach is pragmatic, hands on and always solution oriented. He puts his clients first at all times and requires no less from his team.

Kris is recognised in the field for his expertise and therefore also frequently asked to be a guest speaker at conferences such as Vlerick Business School (the leading business school in Belgium). He is the author of several articles on dismissal, restructuring, strikes and other employment law topics which often get published in newspapers or online media.

Although maybe relatively young, he is a true leading lawyer of the new generation of employment lawyers due to his innovative character and his vision.
