Position

Lasse Esbjerg Christensen is Co-Head of our tax law team.

Lasse advises Danish and foreign businesses and, along with the other partners in the team, he conducts a large number of cases before the courts, including the European Court of Justice, the Danish National Tax Tribunal and other administrative authorities. In addition, he assists a range of the largest family-owned businesses in Denmark in estate planning.

Lasse's teaching experience includes lecturing at the University of Copenhagen and on the mandatory training programme under the auspices of the General Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society. In 2002, he completed his Fulbright Scholar Master of Laws (LL.M.) in international tax from New York University.

Lasse is a member of the Confederation of Danish Industry's Tax Panel and served as a member of the board of the Danish Lawyers' Tax Law Association between 2009 and 2014. All material rating publications recognise Lasse as a leading individual. 

Lasse is currently engaged in a series of large cases, including, in particular, transfer pricing cases and the so-called beneficial owner cases on withholding tax on dividends and interest.

Plesner runs the gamut of tax services for clients including Novo Nordisk, AP Møller and Lego. Practice co-heads Hans Hansen and Lasse Esbjerg Christensen have extensive experience in tax disputes and transfer pricing work; Christensen recently advised Capidea on the tax issues surrounding its launch of a fund, which invited international investments. Managing partner Tom Kári Kristjánsson is an expert in VAT, customs and excise duty; he acted for IBM in a dispute against the Danish Ministry of Taxation relating to VAT, which was added to compensation received from an IT-agreement breach.
