Tom Van Dyck specialises in financial services law and capital market operations. Offering clients substantial experience in regulatory issues (including negotiations or litigation) and a sensitivity for the regulator’s view, he advises financial institutions and fund managers on prospectus rules, market abuse, MiFID, fund regulation (UCITS, AIFMD), as well as banking and other financial services regulation. His practice frequently involves negotiations with the Belgian Financial Markets and Services Authority and the National Bank of Belgium. He also regularly advises representative organizations, including the federation of the Belgian financial sector (Febelfin).


Tom joined Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick as a Partner in 2010. He also teaches at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis (FUSL Brussels) as a visiting professor. He has authored more than forty publications and provided expert advice to the European Commission (2007, 2008) and the European Parliament (2007, 2011, and 2012) on a variety of EU financial law issues.

Tom Van Dyck graduated in law from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven 1999). He obtained additional diplomas from King’s College London and New York University, where he studied as a Belgian American Education Foundation Fellow. In 2006 and 2007, he was a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School. He holds besides a Ph.D. in financial law.

Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick's practice head Jan Vincent Lindemans and Freya Mareels specialise in banking and finance transactions and debt restructurings; their wide-ranging expertise spans areas such as leveraged finance, asset-based lending, structured finance and project finance. In 2017, Mareels was the lead adviser to New York-based private equity firm Argand Partners on the Belgian law aspects of the financing of its acquisition of Oase from Equistone. Lindemans assisted the Veldeman Group and PMF Finance with negotiating an amendment and restatement of existing facilities with KBC Bank. Tom Van Dyck is a go-to for advice on financial regulation, which includes funds regulation (UCITS and AIFMD), insurance regulation (PRIIPS and IDD) and MiFID II. Another notable individual is Wim Dedecker, who has a strong track record in debt and equity capital markets transactions, and recently acted for Belfius Bank as a joint bookrunner on Xior Student Housing's €134m rights issue and accelerated private placement bookbuilding.

Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick has been assisting asset managers and financial institutions with Brexit restructuring matters. In one highlight, department head Tom Van Dyck led the advice to MoneyGram on the regulatory aspects of relocating its EU office from the UK to Brussels. Other areas of instruction include market abuse matters, MiFID II implementation, and Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive work.
