Career

Marisa qualified as a barrister and joined ISOLAS in 2011.

Marisa has since been working closely with Partner, Christian Hernandez in matters of corporate finance and in the field of admiralty and shipping. She has worked in large multi-jurisdictional transactions for top banking institutions and has also been instrumental in numerous successful ship arrests acting for both Claimants and Defendants. Marisa is also involved in ship registration, acting regularly for both buyers and lenders, an area which is experiencing some growth in the market.

Marisa is a fully qualified Certified Accredited Mediator and continues to build on her expertise and experience in this field. She is also a fully qualified interpersonal mediator having most recently obtained her practitioner's certificate as a Certified Interpersonal Mediator and participated in the AIM awards' interpersonal mediation practitioner course in 2014

In December 2013 Marisa attended the Lloyds Maritime Academy Ship Arrest Conference as a guest speaker and sat on a working panel of experts discussing ship arrests in the global sphere with greater emphasis on arresting ships in Gibraltar, an area in which she has acquired significant experience in her short career to date.

Marisa is a member of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats ('AIJA'), an association created for and made up of young lawyers around the globe. Within this organisation she is also active in various working commissions and recently presented a report for the Mergers and Acquisition Commission for the 51st AIJA Annual Congress in 2013.
