Career

Adrian forms part of the private client tax team within the firm’s commercial department, and provides advice and solutions on a wide array of issues to an international client base including large institutional clients and high net worth individuals.

Adrian is fully conversant with local tax, financial services and trust law and is regularly involved advising professional trustees (and beneficiaries) on trusts matters, often lending his services to the litigation department on technically complex trust litigation issues.

Adrian’s technical expertise in this area led to his instruction by the Authorised Administrator and the Financial Services Commission during the first ever administration of a large institutional professional trustee following the revocation of its financial services license.

With his strong background in trust and tax law, Adrian has developed the firm’s pension practice, and is instructed by clients on a wide array of matters including the establishment of occupational schemes for large institutional clients and on pension issues arising from acquisitions or mergers between large corporations.

In light of recent developments in Gibraltar in relation to Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pensions Schemes (QROPS), Adrian is kept busy advising on the establishment of qualifying schemes and the relevant licensing applications under Gibraltar’s financial services and tax regimes.

Adrian has also been recently instructed by the Ministry of Financial Services to draft legislation introducing Foundations and Private Trust Companies under Gibraltar law.

Adrian was appointed to Partner of ISOLAS in July 2016

When we talk about Gibraltar and the EU perspective, we really are talking about a defining element of what has been driving Gibraltar over the last twenty-five or thirty years. Our membership of the European Union is not something that has been incidental and has not had a dramatic impact on Gibraltar; it has been very important in the direction that Gibraltar has taken over that period of time. Gibraltar - as you know - is attached to Southern Spain. Gibraltar and its position in the European Union is quite a fascinating study and a fascinating situation to explain.
