Position

Alain is a highly experienced litigator at our Geneva office and has extensive experience in commercial law practices.

Career

Alain joined Froriep in 1998 and became a partner in 2003. He has broad experience in domestic and international litigation, including civil and criminal attachments and interim measures proceedings. He was a member of the team representing a public entity, which filed the highest claim with a Swiss civil court in a banking matter. Alain is also very active in all corporate and contractual matters, in M&A, in employment law, in aviation and in insurance law.

Alain speaks French and English.

Member

Alain is a member of the Geneva Bar Association, the Swiss Bar Association, the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) and the International Bar Association (IBA). He has also been General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Switzerland since 2000. Alain is the partner representing Froriep within the Employment Law Alliance (ELA), which has as its motto "Helping Employers Worldwide".

Education

Alain graduated from the University of Geneva in 1988 and was admitted to the Bar in 1991. He trained for a while at the Geneva Court of First Instance and worked for six years with a Swiss insurance company. In 1998, Alain obtained an LLM from King’s College in London. He worked as a foreign associate at a leading UK law firm in London and as an associate at a Swiss law firm in London.

Froriep offers representation in civil, white-collar crime and liability proceedings. Focus areas include banking, corporate and commercial, construction, insurance and sports. Isabelle Romy acted for the Department of Environment, Transport and Agriculture of Geneva in a proceeding concerning the remediation of a polluted site related to the construction of the Ceva railway connection. Lucien W Valloni acted for football player Ezequel Matia Schelotto in a Supreme Court dispute against his former agent concerning his transfer to FC Internazionale Milan. Alain Gros and Marcel C Steinegger are other names to note.
