Marcel is a highly experienced tax lawyer at our Zurich office and has extensive experience in Swiss and international tax law. Marcel is also a highly experienced tax litigator in both Swiss and international tax cases in the Swiss courts up to the Supreme Court.

Marcel has been a partner at our Zurich office since 2017. He is specialised in tax law, stock corporation law and accounting law.

Marcel’s professional interests focus on the tax challenges of the digital economy, global tax transparency and cross-border exchange of information, BEPS Action Plan of the OECD and its impact on business and group taxation and private investment structures, multilateral agreements in tax matters, tax arbitration and protection of taxpayers’ rights.

Marcel has many years of experience in all areas of national and international tax planning, tax litigation, tax rulings, expert and legal opinions, assessment of tax risks and development of tax strategies. Further areas of specialty are tax planning for high net worth individuals and sportspersons, tax planning for private investment and business structures, mergers & acquisitions, financing, financial products and investment funds, mutual assistance in tax matters and fiscal criminal matters and international exchange of information in tax matters.

Marcel is a frequent speaker and is the author of numerous legal publications. He also acted as Swiss branch reporter at the annual congress of the International Fiscal Association in 2010 in Rom.

Marcel is a member of the Swiss Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association and the EXPERTsuisse (the Swiss Expert Association for Audit, Tax and Fiduciary).


Marcel is attorney at law and certified tax expert. He attended the Summer Program of the International Tax Program (ITP) at Harvard Law School, studied economics (lic. oec. HSG) at the University of St. Gallen, law (Dr. iur.) at the University of Basel and international tax law at Queen Mary College of the University of London (LL.M.).

It specialises in tax challenges arising from the digital economy, global tax transparency, international exchange of information and BEPS plans, while also dealing with transactions and tax planning issues for private individuals and corporations. Dimitri Rotter acts as a regular adviser to Elko Grupa, while Julie Wynne assisted Chapel & York with the establishment of a Swiss not-for-profit association.
