Marcel is a highly experienced litigator in both international and domestic commercial and corporate cases, in regulatory enforcement work and regulatory issues. White-collar crime cases are a particular specialism.


Marcel has been a partner at Froriep since 2001 and is currently the office managing partner of our office in Zurich. He represents mainly corporation in complex commercial litigation and governmental investigations including regulatory investigations and white-collar crime cases. He advises clients in cross-border litigation and international judicial assistance issues in civil and criminal matters. Marcel also advises clients on corporate, commercial and regulatory concerns (for example, money-laundering issues and compliance) and is active in corporate matters including employment law and insolvency and restructuring issues.


Marcel's working languages are German and English.


Marcel is a member of the Zurich Bar Association.


Marcel obtained his law degree from the University of Zurich in 1988 and his post-graduate degree from the University of San Diego (LLM) in 1998.

Froriep offers representation in civil, white-collar crime and liability proceedings. Focus areas include banking, corporate and commercial, construction, insurance and sports. Isabelle Romy acted for the Department of Environment, Transport and Agriculture of Geneva in a proceeding concerning the remediation of a polluted site related to the construction of the Ceva railway connection. Lucien W Valloni acted for football player Ezequel Matia Schelotto in a Supreme Court dispute against his former agent concerning his transfer to FC Internazionale Milan. Alain Gros and Marcel C Steinegger are other names to note.

Froriep is recommended for its 'dedication and tireless work in order to get cases resolved quickly' and its ability to 'handle complex international insolvency and corporate recovery cases in collaboration with foreign trustees'. It also has considerable experience in insolvency-related litigation, including claw-back actions and liability disputes. Sabina Schellenberg represented a company in international liquidation proceedings, which involved the recognition of the powers of an Israeli trustee in Switzerland and the sale of assets.
