Position

Partner André Hoffmann integrated one of the major Luxembourg banks where he headed the Legal and Tax department before joining the firm in 2006 after initial experience at the Luxembourg Bar in 1984. His experience of more than 20 years in the banking industry allowed him to gain extensive expertise in banking, finance and corporate law as well as in regulatory issues.
André has intensively practised mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings on a local and cross-border basis.

Career

After initial experience at the Luxembourg Bar in 1984, he integrated one of the major Luxembourg banks where he headed the Legal and Tax department before joining the firm in 2006.

Languages

He is fluent is English, French, German and Luxembourgish.

Member

He lectures on banking law in the Master in European Law (European banking and finance law) at Luxembourg University. He was a member of the committee of lawyers with the regulator of the financial sector (CSSF) and of the board of directors of the bankers association (ABBL) where he also chaired the legal committee. He chaired and is still a member of the board of directors of the Luxembourg association of lawyers in banking law (ALJB).

Education

André Hoffmann, "maître en droit" from the University of Strasbourg (France), joined Elvinger Hoss Prussen as a partner in February 2006. He is President of the COSL (Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois) since 2012.

Consequently, it is frequently involved in big-ticket banking and capital markets matters, including Toinon Hoss' representation of Intelsat on its $1.5bn senior notes issuance, and her work for Belron on the refinancing of its term loans. The team is also is also appreciated for its 'depth of expertise in relation to securitisation matters'; Cintia Martins Costa recently advised Fortress Investment Group on its investment, implementing a Luxembourg holding structure, in a securitisation of a portfolio of Italian non-performing loans (NPL) and the related refinancing of the portfolio. André Hoffmann and Pit Reckinger have a wealth of experience across both transactional and regulatory matters and are also recommended.
