Cuatrecasas’ team is highly rated for its arbitration experience, but on the litigation side, Miguel Esperança Pina led the representation of public telecoms group Pharol in a case against some of its directors concerning an allegedly unlawful investment. Oporto-based José de Freitas, who has an ‘excellent presence in court’, represented the shareholders of 50% of Amorim Turismo’s capital in litigation requesting the designation of a sole administrator for the company.
EU and competition
Cuatrecasas provides ‘profound, professional and pragmatic’ advice across all areas of EU and competition law. The ‘dedicated’ Ricardo Bordalo Junqueiro, who was promoted to the partnership in 2017, ‘swiftly finds efficient solutions’; he successfully represented Galp Energia in appealing a fine imposed for alleged vertical restraints in distribution agreements. Of counsel Rita Leandro Vasconcelos is ‘proactive’.
Diogo Leote Nobre and Maria da Glória Leitão jointly head the team at Cuatrecasas, which has extensive collective bargaining and restructuring experience. It advised Gateway consortium, as the successful bidder, on the privatisation of TAP, which has over 8,000 employees. Cuatrecasas handles several matters for Cabovisão and Oni, including regulatory issues and assisting with its sale by Altice to Apax Partners.
