Position

Chris is a partner and solicitor advocate in the commercial litigation team and is head of the specialist advocacy unit. He deals with many aspects of dispute resolution, with particular experience in commercial disputes, health and safety, professional negligence and regulatory work. Chris has spent almost all of his legal career in the detailed preparation, analysis and presentation of cases in both the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court. He has conducted numerous proofs (trials) in the Sheriff Court, presented appeals to the Sheriff Principal and appeared on numerous occasions in the Court of Session. He has rights of audience in the Court of Session, Supreme Court of the UK and judicial committee of the Privy Council. He was recently counsel in the first Scottish reported decision relating to whether or not the Court of Session could competently transfer a judicial review application to the Upper Tribunal (Currie Petitioner 2010 SLY 71). Chris was awarded ‘Rising Star of the Year’ at the 2008 Cuthbert Scottish Legal Awards.
