Rolf Watter has broad experience in all types of M&A transactions, including defence mandates. He also specializes in corporate governance questions and capital market transactions.

Rolf Watter is presently chairman of PostFinance AG and CEVA Logistics AG and a board member of Aryzta AG, AP Alternative Portfolio and of the privately held Faber Castell (Holding) AG. Rolf Watter used to be a board member in a number of Swiss listed companies, namely Zurich Insurance Group, Nobel Biocare, Syngenta, Centrepulse and Forbo. In addition, he is a member of the Regulatory Board of the SIX Swiss Exchange.

Rolf Watter is an editor of the GesKR and the Basler Kommentare on the Code of Obligations II, the Financial Infrastructure Act, the Banking and the Merger Act. He regularly publishes in his fields of work.

In Chambers Global and Europe, Rolf Watter is consistently ranked in tier 1 of the leading lawyers for Corporate/M&A in Switzerland. Rolf Watter is recognised as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame. Best Lawyers awarded him "Lawyer of the Year 2016" in "Corporate" in the Zurich area. He is listed among the top 30 corporate governance practitioners in the world by Expertguides. In the Bilanz, a Swiss economy journal, Rolf Watter has been listed as one of the two most influential lawyers in Switzerland since 2009. Bär & Karrer Ltd. handles IPOs, capital transactions, equity-related matters, bond and notes issuance, as well as private placements and recapitalisation programmes. Thomas Reutter acted for syndicate banks Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs on a combined offering worth CHF505m on the placement of shares and senior convertible bonds of Idorsia. Another highlight was its advice to the syndicate banks on Klingelnberg's CHF241m IPO. Swiss Re, Ceva Logistics and Novartis are among its other clients. M&A and finance lead Ralph Malacrida and transaction partner Rolf Watter are other core team members. Till Spillmann left for Niederer Kraft Frey AG at the beginning of 2018.

With a long-standing track record in public and private M&A and private equity transactions, as well as a sizeable corporate and regulatory team advising in all parts of Switzerland, Bär & Karrer Ltd. is one of the best known local practices. Banking M&A specialist Ralph Malacrida led advice to BZ Bank on the acquisition of United Grinding Group, while Christoph Neeracher assisted Porterhouse with its purchase of clinic group Paracelsus. Mariel Hoch and Thomas Reutter assisted Clearstream International with buying all shares in Swisscanto Funds Centre. Rolf Watter is another name to note.
