Market leaderAsters fields a ‘smart’ team that ‘works quickly’. Alexey Khomyakov advised rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia on tax aspects of its $500m restructuring. Oleksiy Didkovskiy and Constantin Solyar are also recommended.

At Avellum, Mykola Stetsenko has ‘good understanding of international tax law’. He and Vadim Medvedev advised MTI on corporate restructuring and asset transfers.

Baker McKenzie, Kyiv Office’s head of tax Hennadiy Voytsitskyi is a leading light in the market. He regularly advises ArcelorMittal and Erste Group.

Oleksandr Maydanyk is the key name at Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners. Maydanyk advised international industrial group Salini Impregilo on the tax-efficient structuring of its local assets. Arsen Miliutin left the firm in 2018 to take up a position with a state-owned bank.

At Sayenko Kharenko, Serhiy Verlanov advised an international agricultural trader on loan interest rate matters.

Vladimir Kotenko and Iryna Kalyta are the key contacts at EY Law. Igor Chufarov handled complex transfer pricing matters for a large agribusiness.

  • Ukraine Introduces Tax Incentives for IT Industry

    On 5 July 2012, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted the Law Of Ukraine “On Amending Section XX “Transitional Provisions” of the Tax Code of Ukraine on Peculiarities of Taxation of Software Companies” (the “Law”). The Law came into force on 3 August 2012. The tax incentives introduced by the Law provide for a very favourable tax regime for companies operating in the IT industry and are likely to be widely used by national and international businesses. Below we provide the brief description of the incentives introduced by the Law.
