Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Approved Procedure For Privatization of PJSC “Kyivenergo” and PJ

According to the news release circulated by the State Property Fund of Ukraine (“SPFU”) on 21 September 2011 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a Resolution (the “Resolution”) approving conditions for the sale of stateowned shareholdings in power generation companies Public Joint Stock Company “Kyivenergo” (“Kyivenergo”) and Public Joint Stock Company “Zakhidenergo” (“Zakhidenergo”). A 25% stake in Kyivenergo and a 45,103% stake in Zakhidenergo are offered for sale.

When will Russia lift its grain export ban?

On 25 March, Interfax informed that Russia’s Agriculture Minister Elena Skrynnik had announced the government’s plans with respect to lifting the ban on grain exports from Russia.

Regulatory Framework for Gold Mining in Ukraine

While Ukraine was part of the USSR, its gold mining potential was kept in reserve for two principal reasons: 1) environmental issues (the majority of known gold deposits are located in Carpathian Region, considered to be a natural reserve territory) and 2) military planning (in case of conflict with NATO, Ukraine, as a border republic, had higher chances of being occupied by the enemy).

Ukraine Changes Regulation of Motor Road Concessions

On 15 January 2009, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted Law of Ukraine No. 891-VI “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Concessions for the Construction and Operation of Motor Roads” (the "Law") which completely restates the earlier Law. The Law was officially published on 31 January 2009, and it became effective as of the date of its official publication.
