Market powerhouse Gün + Partners has a stellar list of multinational clients spanning the media, retail, energy and finance sectors, for whom it handles patents, trade marks, anti-counterfeiting and IP prosecution. In a recent highlight, the team represented multiple clients, including Gucci and other fashion brands in a raid on counterfeit goods in Turkey, which resulted in the seizure of 2.1 million fake goods. The practice is jointly led by Uğur Aktekin, Mehmet Gün, Özge Atılgan Karakulak and Barış Kalaycı, who is ‘an expert in anti-counterfeiting matters and the go-to person for brand protection’. In January 2017, the firm strengthened the practice by inviting Güldeniz Doğan Alkan, Mutlu Yıldırım Köse and the recommended Zeynep Seda Alhas into partnership.

Moroglu Arseven is recommended for its ability to ‘provide practical insight and astute legal guidance in a holistic manner’. The department covers the full array of IP-related services, such as trade mark enforcement, prosecution and litigation as well as patent enforcement and licensing, and stands out for its ‘creative approach in handling significant and complex matters’. With significant experience in various sectors, including IT, pharmaceuticals, retail and automotive, the team advises well-known multinational companies such as Amazon, Toyota and Starbucks. The practice is led by the ‘highly effective and responsive’ Işık Özdoğan; the recommended Gökce Izgi and Ezgi Baklac Gülkokar are also active in the sector. Creative, knowledgeable and business-oriented’, Deris Attorneys at Law Partnership is experienced in contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including anti-counterfeiting, IP litigation, licensing, trade marks and patents. The sizeable team is particularly active in the pharmaceuticals, electronics and retail sectors. Sertaç Koksaldı heads the patent department and the ‘creative’ Berrin Kalenderli handles trade mark matters, such as trade mark infringement, enforcement, application and opposition. ‘Standout figure’ Okan Çan is also recommended.

The ‘efficient and pragmaticTurunç handles patent and trade mark disputes and the IP-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions and other transactions. Noyan Turunç heads the department and counsel Esin Çamlıbel is also recommended.
