Dickinson Dees LLP continues to provide ‘excellent service combined with very good sector knowledge‘. A real strength of the practice is its experience of large merger instructions, and 2008 saw it advise Scope on its merger with Dial UK. Ros Harwood and Emma Moody are both ‘well connected within the industry‘. The team also works for a number of independent schools.
Hay & Kilner’s charities practice spans property transactions, the appointment of new trustees, and disputes. Jonathan Waters leads the team, which acts for wildlife, ecclesiastical and mental health charities.
Muckle LLP recently advised Hadrians Wall Heritage Ltd on its acquisition of a large site in Cumbria. In 2008 practice head Hugh Welch was instructed by a local charity to advise in relation to a merger. Additional clients include North Music Trust and the North of England Refugee Service.
Clients of the practice at Sintons LLP include the Diocese of Newcastle upon Tyne and the St Mary Magdalene Estate Charity. The team continues to advise individual charitable foundations established by clients. Alan Dawson is recommended.
Ward Hadaway’s practice is headed by Colin Hewitt, who has experience in establishing charities and has recently been involved in a number of significant mergers and de-mergers. The team advises corporate charities, and the Arts Council of England also continues to instruct the practice.
Many of the big-name clients of Watson Burton LLP’s practice are in the sports sector. The team advises the FA Premier League and Football League Trust on community schemes, and charitable trusts and foundations. Other clients include Great North Air Ambulance Service and Fryers Green Millennium Green Trust, the latter being a new win for the practice. John Devine is recommended.
