Seraphim Mar’s three-partner team at Baker & McKenzie has been busy handling termination cases and employment issues arising out of M&A transactions. The team recently acted for Standard Chartered Bank in the successful negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement with the bank’s corporate union. Howard Shiu was promoted to the partnership.
At Formosa Transnational, Georgia Chang and Sam-Rong Hwang were instructed on cutting-edge disputes over sexual harassment in the workplace. Highlights also included representing a company in the mechanical sector in a termination case, and several hi-tech companies in labour disputes.
Sophia Lelong heads the team at Formosan Brothers Attorneys at Law, which also features the highly regarded Chih-Poung Liou. It assists a mixed client base including Japanese companies and other major foreign investors. Recent work includes representing a construction company in a dispute over employment contract interpretation.
Lee and Li’s Ta-Chung Chiang is an employment disputes expert. On the non-contentious side, the team advises local and multinational companies on all aspects of employment law including contracts, redundancies, transfers and employee benefits.
In 2011, Tsar & Tsai Law Firm acted for Triumph in a wrongful termination case, and for a major international life insurance group in administrative appeals against the Council of Labour Affairs and the Labour Insurance Bureau. Jeanne Wang leads the team.
The ‘very responsive and reliable’ John Eastwood heads the employment team at Eiger Law, which regularly advises international companies on the full range of employment matters. Major clients include Gucci Group, Johnson Matthey and Qiagen.
Jack Huang’s team at Jones Day handles non-contentious employment matters for clients such as TSRC, Lubrizol and Navistar International.
Winkler Partners’ consultancy arm is licensed by Taiwan’s Council of Labour Affairs, and specialises in handling immigration issues for expatriates in the country. The team, which is headed by Peter Dernbach, also regularly advises multinational companies on a wide-range of employment issues in relation to local operations.
