Commended for its ‘knowledge and integrity’, Martin Nilsson’s team at Mannheimer Swartling assist with reorganisations, takeovers, incentive plans, structured finance, transfer pricing and transactions, notably advising Ford Motor Company on tax elements of its $1.8bn sale of Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Together with Anders Erasmie, Nilsson successfully represented taxpayers in a groundbreaking case related to employee share ownership. Ann Rutberg advised on Biovitrum’s acquisition of Swedish Orphan and the formation of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum.

Peter Brandt and his team at tax boutique Advokatfirman Andréasson & Co maintain an excellent reputation for advising longstanding clients on Swedish and international tax law and handling tax litigation.

At Baker & McKenzie Advokatbyra, ‘outstanding’ practice head Bo Lindqvist is advising Råsta Projektutveckling on a SEK2bn real estate transaction involving the Swedish football federation and City of Solna. Together with Mika Punkki, he is representing Brightpoint Sweden in a VAT case.

The ‘experienced, flexible’ Christian Luthman’s ‘customer-focused, service-oriented’ team at Bird & Bird Advokat KB advises on tax structuring, litigation and transactional support. ‘Extremely clever’ litigator Mahmut Baran advised HEBA on a real estate acquisition. The team recruited VAT expert Ulrika Hansson from the Finance Minstry and Jakob Lamm from tax advisors Svalner Skatt & Transaktion.

At Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, Nils Sköld is commended for ‘excellent professional and industry knowledge and delivery capacity’. Instructions include corporate work and disputes, notably advising NIAM Nordic IV on the acquisition of a shopping mall portfolio.

Setterwalls provides stand-alone tax advice and transactional support, notably on the Arise Windpower IPO. Malmö-based Sören Brekell focuses on litigation and tax structuring. Key clients include Skanska. Emine Lundkvist leads the Stockholm team. Gothenburg-based Christian Sjöqvist and Jenny Sjöberg joined from MAQS Law Firm.

Mattias Schömer’s tax practice at Advokatfirman Vinge recruited new partner Odile Fallenius and three associates from Linklaters LLP. The group is commended for its ‘impressive knowledge and international network’ and has particular strength in transactions, incentive schemes and reorganisations. Lennart Larsson is recommended.

Peter Sjögren’s team at Advokatfirman Delphi provides stand-alone tax advice, transactional support and litigation. Longstanding clients recommend the ‘excellent’ Peter Utterström. Mikael Knutsson and Johan Kristoffersson from KPMG joined the Gothenburg office.

Linklaters LLP lost practice head Lars Jonsson to Triton Capital, and Odile Fallenius and three associates to Advokatfirman Vinge. Krister Hansen and Karl Sandström advise on major multi-jurisdictional transactions, notably assisting Triton Fund II with its co-investment in OBH Nordica. The group provided tax structuring advice to Barclays on its public cash offer for the Tricorona group and Citibank International on the sale of its Swedish consumer business
