Ashurst LLP acts for multi-national corporate clients on a comprehensive range of local and Asia-wide employment matters in sectors including  banking and finance, energy and resources. Clifford Chance's employment team provides a full range of expertise to its clients in conjunction with colleagues from the firm's corporate and dispute resolution practices. It assists clients with the employment law issues arising from mergers or reorganisations such as cross-border employment contracts and also handles all manner of disputes, including misconduct in the workplace such as harassment, bribery concerns or money laundering. A substantial team, including the experts at alliance law firm Cavenagh Law LLP, include Valerie Kong and Paul Sandosham. Other key members include Harpreet Singh Nehal SC and Janice Goh, who are acting for a major Singapore-based company in a range of issues including investigations and disciplinary proceedings relating to alleged corrupt practices and breaches of internal policies relating to the procurement of contracts.

Herbert Smith Freehills LLP's team is 'superb', 'provides swift response times and effective advice that is pragmatic and never over-done' and 'is also excellent at managing the strategic side of litigation in local jurisdictions'. The 'effective' Fatim Jumabhoy provides 'pragmatic advice' and senior associate Tess Lumsdaine is also a noted name. The team provides the full range of employment expertise including handling the issues associated with corporate restructures or integrations, the termination of employment contracts and investigations, as well as advising on adjunct areas including pensions and incentives. In highlight work, it is assisting a global client with a range of matters including the secondments and other movements of employees in various Asia countries; advising on flexible working conditions, particularly for females employees; and handling investigations into issues of misconduct.

Linklaters stands out for its ability to 'engage the relevant specialists' as and when needed. Laure de Panafieu is the highly experienced team head and other key names include managing associates Chaiyee Oh and Joel Cheang. It covers all aspects of employment and labour law from day-to-day employment matters to strategic planning through to disputes. De Panafieu leads a team that is assisting one international client with matters including the dismissal of senior employees, working hours and recruitment policies and health and safety matters. Clients include Anglo American, AIA, ANZ, Suez Environnement and BE Aerospace.

K&L Gates has 'a strong sense of commercial nous and business acumen' and provides 'outstanding customer service and demonstrates good commercial awareness by proposing practical solutions'. Christopher Tan  is 'particularly good and quite unique in his qualities' and 'has extensive and invaluable experience practising both international and Singapore employment law in a global firm context, and he also has a strong disputes and transactional background which is invariably useful'. Highlights included advising a well-known, international corporation on a workforce restructuring and several employee departures following its acquisition. It also handles high-level employee exits and trades union issues.
