Changes in the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character

Introduced in November 2007, the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character (β€œCode”) sets out guidelines as to good governance in charities and Institutions of a Public Character (β€œIPCs”) with the underlying objective of boosting public confidence in the sector.

However, the Code is not mandatory regulation. It is implemented on a β€˜comply or explain' approach where charities and IPCs should provide explanation for any non-compliance. In addition, if there is any non-compliance, clarification should be provided as to whether any action will be taken towards compliance.
