Allen & Gledhill LLP’s 20-partner team is a market leader, pioneering new capital markets transactions pertaining to REITs and sukuks. Debt capital markets partner Margaret Chin acted for Silver Oak on the first commercial mortgage-backed security issued in Singapore in 2011, and assisted Genting Singapore with a S$1.8bn issue of perpetual securities. Hui Choon Yuen’s group at WongPartnership LLP provides ‘insightful knowledge’ and ‘sincere and helpful’ advice. It acted for the manager in Bumitama Agri’s S$243.9m IPO, and advised Mapletree Logistics Trust on the issue of $350m perpetual bonds. Rachel Eng is the ‘go-to person for regulatory matters’, and ‘a good problem-solver’. Equity capital markets partner Gail Ong is ‘diligent, energetic and very thoughtful’, and Chen Yih Pong is ‘honest, reasonable and fast’.

Drew & Napier LLC’s ‘business acumen and industry knowledge are comparable to other big firms’, and its bilingual English and Mandarin service is ‘truly impressive’. The team, headed by Sin Boon Ann and Petrus Huang, acted for Lonza Group in its secondary listing on the SGX, and advised IEV on its IPO of 37m shares.

Rajah & Tann LLP advised Civmec on its S$40.4m IPO and listing, and acted for Malaysia Smelting Corporation, the first Malaysian company to be dual listed on the Bursa Malaysia and the SGX. Mapletree Investment is a prominent client of the team, which is led by Kim Huat Chia.

Shook Lin & Bok LLP has debt and equity capital markets expertise, recently advising NXP Semiconductors on a senior secured notes issue and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation on the listing and IPO of Global Premium Hotels respectively. Gwendolyn Gn ‘has a good business network, is responsive and thinks creatively’, and Teo Yi Jing is ‘very dedicated and has good interpersonal skills’.

Ng Joo Khin’s team at Stamford Law Corporation forms ‘a reliable partner; very responsive, meticulous and objective’. Highlights included acting for Bumitama Agri on its S$1.31bn IPO on the SGX. Bernard Lui is an ‘excellent client manager’ and is ‘always looking for solutions’.

The ‘very experienced’ team at Lee & Lee, led by Adrian Chan and Lee Pih Peng, acts in equity and debt capital offerings in primary and secondary markets, including IPOs and dual listings on the SGX.

Loo & Partners LLP has acted as legal adviser to Zhongmin Baihui, Far East Group and JK Tech in IPO listings on the SGX.

Tan Min-Li at Colin Ng & Partners LLP advised China Powerplus on the privatisation of the assets of its Australian Stock Exchange listed associate, China Steel Australia.

Perry Yuen joined KhattarWong from Legal Solutions LLC to lead the capital markets team, which acts in IPOs and post-listing capital raising, and represents clients including Ryobi Kiso Holdings and Smartflex.
