The criminal team at 9 Park Place is frequently instructed in historic sexual abuse, murder, drug offences and serious fraud cases. David Elias QC was appointed silk in 2017.

A recent work highlight saw multiple members appearing in the Operation Dino case, involving fraudulent car crash claims totalling Β£1m. Tracey-Lloyd Nesling was appointed to the circuit bench in 2016.

With a reputation as β€˜the strongest criminal set in South Wales’, Apex Chambers’ members act in large-scale fraud cases and high-profile murder trials. In 2016, head of chambers Christopher Rees was instructed in a case involving a defendant from New York travelling to Cardiff with the intention to commit murder.

London-based set Farrar’s Building maintains a firm link with the Wales and Chester Circuit. Members are instructed in cases particularly involving high-profile murders and serious sexual offences. Head of chambers Patrick Harrington QC recently appeared in a case involving a multi-millionaire businessman who was charged with the murder of an escort.

Members of Iscoed Chambers have experience in prosecution and defence work in matters involving murder, dishonesty and serious sexual offences.

Linenhall Chambers handles cases across the Wales and Chester circuit and the North West of England. Owen Edwards was the sole junior defending a DJ accused of involvement in a child abuse ring in an eight-week trial.

In 2016, Cerys Walters represented the appellant in the Court of Appeal case of Lee (Flowers) v Cardiff County Council; the result was an alteration to Part 83 of the 2014 Civil Procedure Rules, meaning landlords now need court permission to apply for eviction warrants for breached suspended possession orders.
