With ‘a highly professional team’ providing ‘top-level service’, Arntzen de Besche is ‘a clear leader in the market’ with substantial expertise across the field, particularly in acting for institutional investors and private equity clients. In a recent highlight, Hans Henrik Kværne and Thomas Øslebø advised the US Government on the sale of its embassy in Oslo. Eilif Koch has ‘strong commercial skills’ and litigator Knud Jacob Knudsen joined from DLA Piper.

Advokatfirmaet BAHR AS is ‘without a doubt, the best in Norway’ thanks to its ‘always available, pragmatic and knowledgeable team’, which is led by the ‘brilliant’ Stig Bech. Clients also praise Anne Sofie Bjørkholt, who ‘always looks for the best solution and finds it every time’; she recently advised Meteva and Arctic Securities on the acquisition of DNB’s Bjørvika headquarters. Erik Langseth handles real estate financings.

Advokatfirmaet Haavind ASexceeds all possible expectations’ with ‘outstanding legal knowledge, solid strategic assessments and concrete advice across the board’. Department head Jarle Holstrøm handles developments and planning issues, and Christian Bjørn-Hansen advises international investors; Bjørn-Hansen’s recent work includes advising ICA Fastigheter on the sale of a property portfolio. Selmer’s ‘hardworking’ team handles transactions, developments and investment work. Highlights included advising Selvaag Eiendom on the sale of its shares in Tjuvholmen Kontor VII, and assisting Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden with its purchase of Nydalen Kontorbygg. Christian Müller heads Advokatfirmaet Thommessen AS’ ‘highly professional’ team, which ‘always manages to find the best solution’. Recent work includes advising Norwegian Property on the sale of a property portfolio to Entra Eiendom, and acting for Stor-Oslo Eiendom on the sale of Sørkedalsveien 8. Christopher Borch and Even Bratsberg are also names to note.

Advokatfirmaet CLP DA’s ‘up-and-coming practice’ stands out for its transactional knowledge alongside a growing focus on development projects and investment work. Department co-heads Håvard Skogvoll and Elin Mack Løvdal are ‘perfectly paired’; Skogvoll is the ‘go-to name for German investment funds’ and Løvdal is ‘an excellent all-rounder’.

DLA Piperproves itself a reliable business partner’ under the leadership of Magnus Lutnæs, who is ‘a service-minded, proactive and trusted adviser’. Transactional work is the cornerstone of the practice; the team advised Ikea on the acquisition of land for a storage facility and handled portfolio acquisitions for Kildare Partners. Tone Gjertsen leads the planning team.

Advokatfirmaet Føyen Torkildsen AS’ full-service department handles development projects, lease agreements, transactions, environmental issues and zoning matters with niche specialisms in harbour developments, logistics buildings and warehouses. Paal-Christian Hansen leads the team; Christian Hartmann joined SANDS.

Ståle Meleng heads Wiersholm’s department, which also counts Tom Rune Lian as a key practitioner; Lian recently advised CBRE Global Investors on several property acquisitions and handled a property portfolio sale for NLI Eiendomsinvest. Pareto Securities, Coop and Steen & Strøm are also clients.

Wikborg Rein’s ‘undeniable transactional track record’ includes advising Storebrand Eiendom Utvikling on the sale of a stake in a property-owning company. Ingrid Høstmælingen and Gøran Mjelde Aarvik jointly lead the practice; Høstmælingen is ‘exceptionally knowledgeable’ and Aarvik is ‘commercially brilliant’. Lars Ulleberg Jensen joined from Advokatfirmaet Thommessen AS.

At Deloitte Advokatfirma AS, ‘very knowledgeable’ practice head Thorvald Nyquist advises developers and property owners on transactional and development issues and also assists with lease disputes. Clients include Kistefos and Olai Eiendom.

Dag Henden Torsteinsen leads the ‘solution-oriented’ department at Advokatfirmaet Grette DA, which focuses on commercial and residential development projects, infrastructure issues and transactional mandates. Svein Ruud Johansen is recommended for land acquisition and zoning processes.

Contentious real estate work is the focus of Advokatfirmaet Hjort’s ‘excellent’ group. Clients praise team head Liv Zimmerman for her planning and zoning knowledge, and single out Liv Aandal for transactional matters.

Under the leadership of Jens Aas, SANDS has increased its focus on property development work advising clients at a domestic and international level. KPMG Law Advokatfirma AS specialises in the VAT and tax elements of real estate transactions, and is led by Per Ivar Skinstad. Key practitioners include Thor Leegaard, Ola Mæle, Oddgeir Kjørsvik, Jan Ove Fredlund and Jan Egill Wendelboe Aarø.

Key areas of expertise for the ‘commercially oriented’ team at Kluge Advokatfirma AS include planning matters, lease contract transactions, property sales and purchases, real estate financings and development projects. Noteworthy names include Tarjei Pedersen, Øystein Henriksen and Oslo team head Naja Dannow.

Great all-rounderNils Petter Hansson heads the department at Ro Sommernes Advokatfirma DA, which also fields ‘brilliant negotiatorHenrik Christensen and Erik Sandtrø, who has ‘great business acumen’. The group regularly advises on hotel and shopping centre issues.

At Advokatfirmaet Simonsen Vogt Wiig, group head Pål Brudvik, who ‘cuts to the chase in a professional manner’, advised Castelar Corporate Finance on its acquisition of multiple real estate companies, and acted for Gunvald Johansen Eiendom on its purchase of Ren Hunstad.

Brækhus Advokatfirma DA is highly regarded for its property development and management expertise; the group advised Gol Skipark on the development of a ski resort. Eirik Espenes leads the team.
