2011 National Budget - the value of waterfall rights not deductible for tax purposes
The Ministry of Finance has proposed that the value of waterfall rights should not be deductible in the special tax base for resource rent tax on production of hydroelectric power. The Ministry refers to this as a “clarification”, but based on case law from the tax authorities, the proposal will de facto deny deductibility for many hydro power plants.
The Norwegian Tonnage Tax Regime
Effective as of 1 January 2007 the Norwegian tonnage tax regime was amended. The new tonnage tax regime was approved by the European Surveillance Authority (ESA) on 3 December 2008
